New York City

About

Immanuel partners with Daniel and Kari McGhee and their church, Connection NYC as he and his team serve in the world’s most diverse neighborhood, Astoria, Queens, New York. We assist them in serving their community through practical projects such as giving away coffee on the streets of Astoria; setting up and hosting the Connection NYC’s worship service; handing out information cards about the next service or event, and hosting a community-wide Easter Egg Hunt and Fall Fest which allows for visible examples of God’s love with multiple opportunities to connect with folks. In 2019, Connection Church planted its first church in the Woodside neighborhood called Queens Church. In 2020, they planted an Arabic-speaking church.
The neighborhood of Astoria in the New York City borough of Queens boasts one of the most diverse communities on the planet. Throughout these streets, you find the home of Steinway & Sons Piano, Sesame Street, and the third-largest population of Greeks on the planet. The world literally makes this place their home, and so many know nothing about the grace and mercy of Jesus Christ. Connection Church serves this diverse area of Queens and faces many challenges. In addition to language barriers, cultural differences, and varying world views, our partners must also navigate the ever-growing negativity associated with Christianity and an increased acceptance of secular humanism.
