September 8th Bylaws Meeting

Thanks so much for taking the time to prayerfully read through the proposed IBCLR Bylaws. The Bylaws Drafting Committee has diligently worked to clarify & establish in writing how IBCLR plans to operate under the Lordship of Jesus Christ. These bylaws are not in effect until they are approved by the congregation at a Church Family Business Meeting (Nov. 10th is the new current target date for a Church vote…postponed from Oct. 20th).
We hope you have been able to attend the meetings so far on Sep. 8th and Oct. 6th, but if not, the meetings were recorded and have been posted on this webpage. We have enjoyed meeting with different Sunday School classes during the month of September and are grateful for all the feedback. The feedback form (linked below) will reopen on Sun. Oct. 6th and close on Sun. Oct. 20th so Church members are able to submit additional feedback following the 10/6 meeting.
The vote has been postponed to Sun. Nov. 10th in light of the exciting hire of our Interim Senior Pastor, Dr. John McCallum. The Bylaws Committee is seeking his pastoral leadership and feedback on the proposed Bylaws and plans to release another proposed draft by the end of October for final Church member consideration prior to the 11/10 vote.
This draft of the proposed Bylaws being presented for member review and discussion represents the best efforts of our committee to outline a framework for the governance and administration of our Church. We acknowledge all those who have been hurt in this past season and have high hopes for these Bylaws, but we share an even higher hope in Jesus. Our goal is for these Bylaws to create positive dialogue regarding the future of our Church & its members, reestablish a culture of trust, and refocus our attention toward Jesus above all else.
IMPORTANT DATES
Our committee has already been working to incorporate changes as needed following feedback received from Church members. Our plan is to republish the final proposed draft by Thurs. Oct. 31st at the latest, providing at least a 10-day period for Church members to review the Bylaws prior to voting on their adoption on Sun. Nov. 10th.
We hope you share in our desire to see the Bylaws work as an instrument of healing in our church. Please continue to pray for our church as we trust Jesus to lead us into what we believe will be a new season at IBCLR in which God will seek, receive, & use us to magnify His glory in our city & world.
